Statement – 10 August 2013
Tyn-y-bryn
means House on the Hill in Welsh.
We are
situated on the Deri which is one of the foothills of the Sugar Loaf at
the end of a rather steep driveway.
On leaving your car in the yard there are 5 wide but shallow
steps leading up to 4 more steps that open onto the path leading to the
cottage. About 25 yards
along there are 9 steepish steps which bring you to the door step of the
cottage – there is a hand rail on the left.
Inside the
main living room is level with one step down into the kitchen and
bathroom. The shower is
approx 10 inches off the floor with normal height wash basin and
lavatory. The bedroom is
accessed from the lounge area and there are 6 steps, a small landing
area, then another 5 steps up.
There is a sloping roof in the bedroom space so it is impossible
to walk around the bed completely.
All the
doorways are standard width.
There is good
mobile phone reception and wi-fi access from the cottage too.
Dogs are
welcome, whether guiding/hearing dogs or pets and there is a secure
field behind the cottage for exercising, but the field is steep in
places.
Buses and
trains are available in Abergavenny but there is no public transport
closer than one mile from the cottage.
There is a Shop Mobility scheme operating in
Castle Street
car park in Abergavenny
